Want to reduce absence at work?

Sick days are costly for business. On average, it’s costing employers £710 per employee every year with six days off work for illness. Whether you’ve got persistent absence, long-term illness or simply want to reduce absence overall, there are techniques you can use.

Reducing absence the right way

A healthy team is an engaged team. So, understanding what the main causes of absence are within the workplace can help you put the right preventative measures in place. This might look like reducing stress and supporting wellbeing, having healthy initiatives or getting a robust policy in place to stop persistent sick days.

One of our clients saw a 50% reduction in employee absence from putting in place the techniques we teach on this course.

Managing Absence, Health and Wellbeing

Managers are the front line for reducing your absence rates. Giving them the skills and techniques to reduce sick days, putting in the programmes to avoid long-term illness in the team and giving them the confidence to make the right decisions will have a positive impact on your absence levels.

In this course, you will learn:

  • The common causes of persistent absence

  • Ways to support healthy actions and mental wellbeing

  • Policies and procedures that can actively help reduce absence at work

  • How to spot patterns and take action on them

  • How to conduct an effective return to work interview to reduce future absences

FAQs:

  • Yes, if you have at least six managers who you want trained on Understanding the Management Role, we can arrange for a training event specifically for your business. If you have less than six managers, book a call with Duncan to find out how we can help you.

  • It’s a one-day course and runs over usual office hours of 9am –5pm with an hour break for lunch.

  • We limit our training days to 8 people so that everyone has a chance to take part in the exercises and get feedback. If the group is full on the date you want to attend, we will look at alternative options with you.

  • If you want us to run the course for your business, we can have a chat about how this will work. It’s important that training takes place in a safe, neutral space so that your managers feel free to have open discussions. They will also need to practise their new skills, which is best done away from the temptation to check emails or any other interruptions.

Book a call with Duncan to discuss how we can help.
