Taking action can save you 4x the investment in your people

Getting the right training and support in place can help you spot the signs of poor mental health, stress and anxiety before it becomes an issue.

Giving your people a safe space to go for help and advice can:

  • Reduce absences

  • Increase retention rates

  • Minimise the risk of grievance and tribunals

  • Increase performance and productivity

  • Support a positive culture of work within the wider business.

More importantly, you can help your people to bring their best selves to work for the long term.

Mental Health First Aid Course

When you have fully trained mental health first aiders in your team, you get the assurance that your people have someone to turn to when they don’t feel like themselves. Your mental health first aiders will have the skills to support and signpost your team, so they get the right help.

What the course includes:

  • How to start a conversation about mental health

  • Recognising stress and signs of someone struggling with their wellbeing

  • Understanding drugs, alcohol, self-harm and suicide

  • Developing a First Aid for Mental Health action plan

  • Implementing a First Aid for Mental Health action plan

We take the small group through presentations, group discussions and tutor-led sessions. We limit the spaces to support everyone’s learning style on the day.

What you’ll get from completing the course:

  • OFQUAL regulated full Mental Health First Aid qualification

  • A qualification logo to use on your website and internal comms

  • Knowledge that you can spot and stop someone’s mental health from worsening

  • Guide someone towards potentially lifesaving professional help

  • Change the attitudes to mental health in your workplace

  • Help make a difference in people’s lives.

At the end of the course, you’ll be able to recognise the signs of someone struggling with their mental health and be able to signpost them to the right place to get help. It’s important that anyone suffering from poor mental health gets help from a healthcare professional.

An essential part of the team

Mental Health First Aiders should be an essential part of the team for an employer. We’ve designed this course to take you through everything you need to know to get your Mental Health First Aid qualification. But we also look at this through the lens of employment law to best support the business.

Danton Training

Danton provides Mental Health First Aid in association with an Ofqual-regulated trainer. We have a purpose-built training room to deliver all our training in a safe space, away from the daily pressures of your emails and phone calls, giving you the time to concentrate on learning your new - potentially lifesaving - skills.

FAQs:

  • We recommend that you send the trusted and approachable people within your team to complete a Mental Health First Aider course. They need to provide a safe space for your employees and therefore, it’s usually those with leadership potential who make the best MHFA.

  • We recommend having as many mental health first aiders as you do physical first aiders. The more employees you have, the more you’ll need mental health first aiders.

  • Yes. It can be easy to get mental health support wrong and cause more harm than good, which is why we think it’s important to attend an accredited course which gives you the skills you need to take the right actions.

  • Mental health costs the UK economy around £30 billion per year. When someone is suffering from depression, stress and anxiety, they can’t bring their best selves to work. Often they will need time off sick and this situation could easily snowball into disciplinary action or even a tribunal.

Having a mental health first aider who can spot the signs before they escalate will help you put in the right actions for your employees and the business.

  • Our course is a full day and we’ll provide refreshments.

  • We recommend taking a refresher course every four years as you do with physical first aid. This will help you keep updated with the latest research, techniques and where to send someone for further support.
